Father Harold Datzman
Born: Earl Park, Indiana, November 7, 1938
Professed: July 11, 1959
Ordained: May 23, 1965
Like many of the monks of our community, Fr. Harold began his monastic life working in our academy teaching religion and Latin, but in 1977 Fr. Harold began to serve in parochial ministry in a variety of localities: Dalzell, Ladd, and Peru. In January of 2017, he retired as pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Peru and resided for a time at the monastery. Physical limitations caused the monastic community to make the hard choice to move Fr. Harold to the St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon, Illinois. Fr. Harold seems to be doing well at the nursing home. Fr. Harold continues to be an avid sports fan, primarily of Chicago teams and of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
